Jonny Gross studied filmmaking in the UK at West Herts College, London and has been making videos for over 14 years. During 2009, he filmed concerts and guitar lesson videos for Bradley Fish Music. Before going solo, Jonny worked for Remervision video productions in Modiin, Israel, helping to produce videos for The David Project, Nefesh B’Nefesh, Lazer Lloyd Blues Band, Google Adwords, SESP, Honest Reporting and Shlock Rock. Jonny was also part of the Remervision 48 Hour Film Project crew in Summer 2009 as cameraman and assistant editor. The film, titled Winning Counts, starred Israeli actors Oshri Cohen, Dana Ivgy, Anya Bukstein and Aryeh Cherner.
Since forming JGF in 2011, Jonny has worked for British Council Israel/The British Embassy and BIRAX, Cinemania Club, Yosef Lapko Production and Merakdin, Singer Productions, We Believe In Israel, The Eitan Organisation, KCPS Clarity, The Jewish Agency, Awesome Seminars, Lev Haolam, Naomi Vision Boutique, The ICRC (Red Cross), Arutz Meir and has been all over Israel filming fund-raising videos for Inspire who are based in the UK. These include Yad Sara, JNF, Laniado Hospital, Jewish Child's Day, Zichron Menachem, Beit Halochem, Shuvu, Tikva and Yad Vashem, in cities such as Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Be'er Sheva, Sderot, Ra'anana, Netanya, Haifa and more.
As of March 10th 2013, JGF went international with Jonny's first overseas shoot in Odessa, Ukraine for Inspire and in 2014 to Amsterdam and Florence (2015) for The Feuerstein Institute.
In August of 2015 Jonny and his wife Michal co-wrote and co-directed the short film The Dream Factory. The film was screened at the Jerusalem Cinematheque in January 2016 and at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque in February. The film received the audience favourite award in Ynet's online competition, receiving 42% of the vote of six competing short films.
In the summer of 2016, Jonny and Michal worked for the Jerusalem Film Workshop (with Green Productions, The Jerusalem Foundation and Onward Israel amongst others). A 6 week program, the JFW brought 16 young filmmakers from the US, UK, China, Germany and India to experience Jerusalem with a filmmaker's eye and make a short documentary and a short drama. Jonny was the editing mentor, guiding the students through editing both their documentaries and dramatic shorts while overseeing all aspects of the export process.
Michal and Jonny are writing the script for their first feature film and developing an anthology tv series.
Recently, Jonny has edited a feature documentary (which then became a web series) for The Hive Pro Studio in Tel Aviv, amongst other projects and has directed, shot and edited over 20 videos for Hitorrerut, the campaign for Jerusalem Mayoral candidate Ofer Berkovitch. These include video profiles of 11 members of the party, a puppet parody of Trump's bringing the American Embassy to Jerusalem and several scripted ads.
In 2020, our new camera is the Sony PXW-FS5, replacing the trusty Panasonic DVX200.
Jonny currently lives in Jerusalem, Israel and continues to provide video production services to a growing client-base.
